Department of Consumer Affairs to Probe E-Commerce Platforms Over Hidden Cash-on-Delivery Charges

The Department of Consumer Affairs has launched an investigation into e-commerce platforms for allegedly imposing hidden charges on cash-on-delivery (COD) orders. These fees, often added during checkout, have triggered consumer complaints. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi called the practice a “dark pattern” that misleads and exploits buyers. The ministry is now scrutinizing these platforms and promises strict action to uphold transparency and protect consumer rights.
