iOS 26.4.2 Update Rolled Out With Fix for Bug Used to Extract Notifications for Deleted Chats
Apple started rolling out the iOS 26.4.2 update on Wednesday. While the latest update does not include any new features, it does fix a major bug. The new firmware version comes with the security patch CVE-2026-28950. The patch addresses an issue related to Notification Services on devices running iOS 26.4.1 or earlier iOS versions, where the devices stored deleted message notifications in their notification database. This bug was reportedly exploited by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the US managed to access deleted Signal messages from the iPhone’s notification database.
