Microsoft Says Next-Gen Xbox Will Run on AMD Chip, Not Be 'Locked to a Single Store'

Microsoft said it had established a strategic, multi-year agreement with AMD to co-develop chips for its future devices, including including the next-generation Xbox consoles. The next Xbox will be backwards compatible, the company confirmed. Microsoft said the Xbox experience won't be tied to one device or one store, suggesting the next-generation Xbox consoles could support storefronts like Steam.
