Oracle to Invest $40 Billion in Nvidia Chips for Massive AI Data Center

Oracle is reportedly preparing to make a massive $40 billion investment in Nvidia's high-performance chips, as it builds one of the largest AI data centers in the world. According to a report by The Financial Times, the company plans to acquire around 400,000 of Nvidia's powerful GB200 chips to support infrastructure for OpenAI.

The data center, to be located in Abilene, Texas, is a central component of the larger Stargate Project — a US-led initiative aimed at bolstering domestic AI capabilities amid intensifying global competition. The facility is expected to be a major backbone for developing and deploying advanced artificial intelligence technologies at scale.

This unprecedented scale of chip acquisition underscores the rapidly growing demand for AI computing power. Nvidia’s GB200 chips, designed specifically for generative AI and large-scale model training, offer the performance required for handling increasingly complex machine learning tasks.
