YouTube Begins Testing Built-In Chat and Video Sharing Feature on Mobile App
YouTube is experimenting with the return of private in-app messaging six years after discontinuing the feature. The test, limited to users aged 18 and older in Ireland and Poland, allows people to share videos and chat directly within the YouTube mobile app. It includes strict safety measures, with all messages governed by YouTube’s Community Guidelines and chats initiated only through invites. If the experiment proves successful, YouTube may expand it to more regions. Spotify launched a similar feature earlier this year.
