Zoom, Meta Join Forces To Roll Out Standalone App for Its VR Headsets

Meta announced the roll out of Zoom’s standalone app on Tuesday. The app will allow users to be present during video conferences as their virtual avatars. According to the app’s listing on Meta’s website, Zoom’s standalone app will function with any paid or free Zoom license. This is in line with Zoom’s recent push to expand its presence in the virtual reality space. Zoom’s CEO, in June 2024, reportedly said that he wants AI clones in meetings.
