Discord's Global Age Verification for Full Feature Access Will Roll Out in March; Company to Create Teen Council
Discord will begin a global rollout of age verification in early March for users seeking full access to the platform. Teen-focused safety and communication controls will be applied by default across all accounts. Users may need to verify their age to view sensitive material, enter age-restricted spaces, or adjust messaging settings. Discord said age checks can be completed through on-device facial estimation or by submitting identification to vendor partners. The company will also use an age inference model, alongside tighter content filters and a new Teen Council.
