Flagship Memory Configurations on Android Phones Now Cost More Than Snapdragon Chips, Tipster Claims
The cost of acquiring 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage has surpassed that of Qualcomm’s flagship 3nm octa core Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a combination found on most flagship smartphones today, according to a tipster. The leaker claims that this particular configuration is expected to increase in cost by more than CNY 2,300 (Rs. 31,000) in the second quarter of 2026. He added that the sudden rise in prices of components could be “disastrous” for the smartphone industry as a whole. He also expects foldable and candy bar phones to see a price surge of about CNY 1,000 (about Rs. 13,500).
